Good Morning All!
Well since last nights small storm, it has finally cooled things down. I have all two of my windows open and my back door. There is actually a beautiful cross breeze. I even had to put socks on this morning!
So as you can see from the pictures there was a storm that passed by last night. It was nothing big, but was powerful during the 30 minutes it lasted. There was little rain but a lot of intense lightening.
Trying to get a picture of the lightening was hard, so I took a video and screen shot it.
At the beginning of the storm out my front window in which the pictures were taken from, there was a really weird cloud. It was lighter than the other clouds, and moved fast. Where I live, it's actually rare to see a tornado or anything a like pass through. The most we get is tail ends and the odd funnel form, but nothing ever touches down.
In the 20 years I've lived, I can remember about 3 different times of when there actually was a tornado that touched down.
Two happened within the same year. I was in grade 4 so it was about 1997. It was summer time and I can still remember that day. At the time my dad was a long haul driver so he was away a lot. On this day he was coming back home. It had been storming all day and I remember I sat in the brown leather lazy boy huddled in my blanket with my dog Ginger (she passed away form cancer in 2000?) Before the storm had started it was a warm sunny day and all the kids in the building were playing. Then it started to hail for like 5 seconds at the most. There was so much rain and wind and loud amounts of thunder. Eventually it had cleared up for a little bit. My dad was back home and we were watching the news. There was still thunderstorm warnings out for the rest of the day. While watching the news they had put out tornado warnings for our area. I got real scared I was young and never seen one before, and to make it even better we were issued warnings for an F5 ! Thankfully though, it stayed clear the rest of the night and only rained on and off.
The second time was a news article. There had been a funnel formation spotted in out down town area. But nothing ever came of it.
The third time I remember well because I had a job at the time and I was working. The sky appeared green-ish grey and it was warm and muggy all day that day. Eventually the storm set it. This time a tornado had actually touched down in the north end of where I lived. I don't remember if had done any damage or not but I know it touched down.
These last two photos are from a video I shot. I will post it on YouTube eventually.
The lightening was actually as bright as it shows.
I'm angry that these good storms always happen before I head to bed, even though this one didn't last very long anyway.
Well that's it for this post guys!
Take care, and may good luck come your way! :)
